Aspex NOVISTA are pleased to announce the successful completion of a second direction fire test on our steel riser doors!
The test was requested by one of the largest northern metropolitan councils’ own Building Control Department. Even though the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government advice note 17 states that multi-direction tests on fire doors only currently applies to composite doors, they insisted that the riser doors on this particular project should be tested from both sides.
The image shows the triple set loaded on to the test kiln with the ‘corridor side’ of the riser exposed to the fire, reflecting the councils Building Control comment that ‘during firefighting, the corridor side of the riser could be exposed to the fire’. The test was a roaring success!
Fire safety and risk assessment is currently under scrutiny in the UK and at Aspex Novista we are conscious of this. We are driving change through innovation, design, and testing in order to provide market-leading products that will meet the requirements of current and future design as well as challenging the specification criteria.
