Cheltenham Grand Stand

Aspex won the race to secure the contract for the new grandstand at Cheltenham Racecourse. A project worth over £45 million to Kier contractors, Aspex is working closely with the project team and the architects to provide scheduling services and the supply of Satin Stainless Steel Ironmongery, Dorma Door Closers, and new six-pin patent protected Master Key System.

The build includes a new grandstand, See You Then bar, weighing room, first aid room, and crescent walkway. Construction began at the end of April and is scheduled to be completely finished by summer 2016, and to the joy of many punters, race days and the Cheltenham Gold Cup are not affected, as some facilities of the new grandstand will be finished and in use before the project is completed.

Reg Hitchings of Kier Group said, “We have worked with Darren Wetton of Aspex UK on many major projects over the years, and when we secured this project we had no hesitation in asking him to help us to develop and schedule the architectural ironmongery for the scheme. Darren and the Aspex contracts team are highly knowledgeable and experienced in dealing with large projects, and will help to ensure that the ironmongery schedule is accurate and that the products fully comply with the latest regulations and standards.”
